Being Human
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He
created him; male and female He created them.
Humanity is often referred to the human race as a whole.
Being human, we have the quality and virtue of being loving, kind,
benevolent and compassionate toward others.
As the Bible recorded, humanity was created in God's image. We are
granted unique status, consciousness and dominion over the earth. We
are also given the privilege and blessing to have fellowship with
God.
However, humanity's original state was blemished by a fall from
grace due to disobedience. This resulted in a fallen nature of
mankind, characterized by sin and separation from God.
But God has a divine plan for redemption through Jesus Christ,
desiring to restore humanity to the original purpose and
relationship with God.
Being created in the image of God, we have a special relationship
with our Creator. We are given a unique spiritual, mental and
moral capacity to communicate with God and other people.
Having body, mind and spirit, we are created with individuality and
freewill. And we are created for the glory of God.
Mankind was originally given the mandate to have dominion over the
earth and its creatures. But due to sin, the fallen nature of
mankind has more tendencies towards doing evil and committing sins.
As a result, death came into the world!
Despite the fall, God has set in motion a plan for redemption and
reconciliation through Jesus Christ.
As Jesus overcame evil and death, He is now able to reunite God and
humanity, restoring the original purpose of mankind.
He shows a path to restoration through His life, death and
resurrection. He paves a way back to God, restoring the original
purpose of humanity.
Through faith and belief in Jesus, the image of God is being
restored in us. And we are called to love God and one another,
leading to a restored relationship and purpose.
As we trust and obey God as Lord and Savior, we need to love God, ourselves and others.
We need to know again what it means to be human. Yes, being created
in the image of God.
Being human, we need to be loving, kind, benevolent and
compassionate toward others.
