Acknowledging God
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
In all our ways, we need to acknowledge God so that He shall
direct our paths. We need to remember the Lord in everything we do,
and He will guide us as we live and move.
What does it mean to acknowledge God? Acknowledging God requires us
to recognize His existence and presence, knowing that He is
omnipresent and omnipotent. He is here where we are. He has all
power and authority over everything in heaven and on earth, and that
includes all of us!
As we acknowledge Him, we allow Him to guide our plans and
decisions, knowing and understanding that His wisdom is higher and
greater than our own.
Acknowledging God involves living with the awareness of God's
availability and willingness to teach, help and guide us. As we do
so, we begin to learn and choose to align our will with His. This
process includes a life that is living in His presence. In our
sleeping, in our waking, in our walking and in our talking, in our
meals and in our workplaces. Always in prayers, continually
communicating with Him as we walk in life.
As we seek Him in His Word, we will become more thankful, loving,
peaceful and joyful. We will also begin to express our humble
gratitude and trust in Him.
As we acknowledge God in all our ways and in all our days, we will
experience His divine direction, resulting in us living a more
meaningful and purposeful life.
How do we acknowledge God? Firstly, we need to live with the
awareness of His presence and power. This is not a religious ritual
or church program. It is deeply embedded in our hearts. Deep calls
unto deep, knowing consciously of God's existence in our daily
life, and understanding that He is actively involved in all our
daily activities and circumstances.
Secondly, we need to recognize His divine authority. We need to
acknowledge that God has all the rights to guide and direct our
life, and understand that His wisdom exceedingly surpasses our own.
Thirdly, we need to seek His guidance. We need to include and
involve God in our decision-making, both big and small. We do so by
reading His Word, and praying for understanding and direction.
Fourthly, we need to express our gratitude. We need to thank God for
giving us breath and a new day every morning as we wake up. We need
to thank God daily for His blessings, understanding that everything
we have and possess come from Him.
Fifthly, we need to trust Him and His plans. Even when things are
difficult to understand and not what we prefer, we need to submit to
His sovereignty, trusting that God's ways are better than our own.
Finally, we need to pray simple prayers. Not repetitive but sincere,
knowing and meaning every word we pray. We need to incorporate short
prayers throughout the day, such as "Thank You, Jesus" or "Please
guide me, Lord” or “Please help me, Lord.” Appropriately, properly,
reverently and meaningfully.
As we acknowledge God in all our ways, we will be able to live and
move and have our being in all the days of our life!
